Living in an apartment complex means sharing resources, which includes our waste disposal system. To keep Moore Park Gardens’ tidy and contribute to a sustainable Sydney, let’s brush up on proper waste disposal etiquette! …

Bin Basics:

  • Red Bin (General Waste): This bin is for anything that can’t be recycled or composted, such as general household waste. Remember to tie up your bin bags before placing them in the chute or bin.
  • Yellow Bin (Recycling): Paper, cardboard (flattened), plastic bottles and containers (rinsed), glass bottles and jars, aluminium/steel cans and empty aerosol cans.
  • Green Bin (Organics): Small branches and twigs, leaves and grass clippings, tree and shrub prunings, plants, flowers and weeds.

Bulky Items

Need to get rid of furniture, mattresses, or appliances? These bulky items shouldn’t go in the coloured bins. Instead, leave them neatly in your building’s designated bulk waste area. We have a weekly pick-up on Mondays, but please keep common areas clear by placing them only in the designated zone. If you’re unsure where that is, or have questions about what’s accepted or size restrictions, please check with Building Management we’re happy to help!

Tricky Household Items: Recycle It Saturday!

Looking to declutter and recycle those unwanted household items? Look no further than Recycle It Saturday! This free quarterly event offered by City of Sydney, in partnership with Waverley and Woollahra Councils, tackles the challenge of disposing of tricky recyclables. Residents of these areas can conveniently drive through or walk up to drop off a variety of items, including clothes, batteries, electronics, gas cylinders, bicycles, and even unusual materials like polystyrene and x-ray scans. Residents just need to bring proof of address to participate. The event features a drive-through lane for faster service, where a friendly team will unload your car for you. Walkers and cyclists have a separate drop-off area for easy access.

The next event is Saturday 18th May from 9am to 3pm at Alexandra Canal Depot, 67C Bourke Road, Alexandria.

Working Together for a Sustainable Sydney

By sorting our waste properly, we can reduce landfill waste and contribute to a cleaner environment. Here are some additional tips:

  • Break down cardboard boxes to save space in the recycling bin.
  • Rinse out food containers before placing them in recycling.
  • Compost food scraps whenever possible (even in small countertop composters!).
  • Unsure about an item? Check the council’s website for a comprehensive waste guide.
  • Let’s be mindful neighbours and keep our apartment complex clean and green!

Building Management are under pressure from residents to increase bin capacity, which in turn increases Council Rates, an outcome we all wish to prevent. However, working together on these waste disposal practices, we can make a difference!
